D.A.R.E. Day 2012

For 22 years, the Prior Lake Rotary Club has sponsored the D.A.R.E. Bike-a-Thon as a fundraiser for the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program in Prior Lake.  Our mission is to help our community’s children make good decisions concerning the challenges they face every day in regards to alcohol, drugs, and violence.  Thousands of children and adults have participated in the Bike-a-Thon over the years, helping us in our mission and creating a strong D.A.R.E. program in our schools.  D.A.R.E. DAY was created to bring new events, energy, and excitement as well as bigger and better prizes to the program.

The Prior Lake Rotary Club is pleased to kick off D.A.R.E. DAY 2012!  This event will be bigger and better than ever, but we need your help!

What is it?

D.A.R.E. DAY 2012 is a morning full of activities featuring a one mile Fun Run, the 22nd Annual Bike-a-Thon, food, prizes and entertainment.   This is an event for Prior Lake/Savage area students and their parents.   It is designed to raise money for the DARE program and other drug and alcohol resistance programs in the Prior Lake-Savage Area School District.

When is it?

D.A.R.E. DAY 2012 will take place on Saturday, May 5th.  Schedule of events:
Registration: 8:15 am - 9:15 am
One Mile Fun Run: 9:00 am
22nd Annual Bike-a-Thon: 9:30 am
Awards Presentation: 10:45 am

Where is it?

D.A.R.E. DAY 2012 will take place in Lakefront Park.     The Fun Run is a one mile run inside Lakefront Park, and the Bike Ride is a 5 mile loop through Prior Lake neighborhoods.  This is a fun, leisurely ride that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Fund Raising

Students will be asked to raise contributions for D.A.R.E. DAY 2012 and return them to their teacher on or before Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012. Envelopes are included in this registration packet.  Please make certain that the permission slip on the envelope is signed and the prize desired is circled when your child returns it to their teacher.  Tax-deductible contributions received will be used for continued sponsorship of D.A.R.E. and related programs in the Prior Lake/Savage Area Schools.  Please make checks payable to The Prior Lake Rotary Foundation (DARE).
 

Prizes

All participants will receive a Prior Lake Rotary D.A.R.E. DAY 2012 T-shirt.     Prizes will also be awarded to students who reach the following fundraising levels: *STILL COMING*

Last Year's Prizes were:
Level 1 - $75 Level - Daren the DARE Lion, or Triple Play Sports Day Pass, or Minnesota Zoo Day Pass.
Level 2 - $150 Level - $50 Target Gift Card, or 2 GB iPod Shuffle, or 2 Passes to Nickelodeon Universe, or 4 Tickets to June 27th
Minnesota Twins Game vs. Los Angeles Dodgers.
Level 3 - $300 Level - 4 Passes to Waterpark of America, or $100 American Girl Gift Certificate, or Nike Shox Turbo or NZ,
or 8 GB iPod Nano, or Amazon Kindle.
Level 4 - $500 - 8GB iPod Touch, or Bike, or Buck Hill Child Season Pass, or Nintendo 3DS, or 4GB Microsoft Xbox 360 with Kinect.
Level 5 - $1,000 - Any two items from Levels 1 - 4, or 16 GB iPad.
Additional prizes will be given away in random drawings the day of the event, but you must be present to win.

Join Us!

D.A.R.E. DAY 2012 will present safe and fun activities for the entire family.   Prior Lake Police Officers, Prior Lake Rotary members, and other volunteers will be stationed along the courses to ensure complete safety for all riders.  As always, the wearing of bicycle helmets is strongly encouraged.
